Judge Gloria E. López | 308th Family Court
MEET THE JUDGE
Judge Gloria E. López has presided over the 308th Court since January 1, 2019. She ran for re-election and won on November 8, 2022. Her current term ends in 2026.
Judge López is a native of McAllen, Texas. She received her bachelors in Government and Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin and then went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University in May 2010. In 2011, as an associate attorney for a civil litigation firm, Judge López handled a variety of civil suits. But in 2012, Judge López was hired as an associate attorney in a Family Law Firm, found her love of family law, and has practiced family law since. Judge López campaigned hard and received many endorsements from well-respected organizations such as MABAH, the Houston Chronicle, Harris County Tejano Democrats, GLBT Caucus, AFL-CIO, and Area 5 Democrats. Her mission is seeking justice with compassion and helping Harris County families. In cases where Child Protective Services (CPS) is involved, she believes that the ideal placement should be with family members.
Judge López is a proud daughter of an immigrant mother and a disabled veteran father. She is committed to serving Harris County, Texas and her Court’s litigants with understanding, fairness and justice.

INTERESTING FACTS
Judge López is a wife and a dog mom to her dog, Pedro. During her campaign, Judge López hit the pavement in her democratic blue Converse and kept things fun by doing her classic campaigning dance.
According to the Harris County District Clerk website she has handled 304 Civil/Family cases in Harris County since being licensed. That said, we are not including cases in other counties or those cases filed under another attorney’s bar number which can be the case when working as an associate.
